Looking for a Done Deal Pro alternative?
For years, Done Deal Pro was the go-to database of spec script, pitch and book deals: what sold, to whom, and who repped the writer. As of October 16, 2026, donedealpro.com doesn't load for us, and ScriptMatch reported in June 2026 that the site was down. Other tools writers relied on have closed too: according to the same ScriptMatch article, The Tracking Board shut down on September 1, 2025, a month after Coverfly closed.
So where do you track what's selling now? Here's an honest rundown, including us.
| Resource | Cost | What it does well | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Spec Sheet | Free | Searchable database of reported spec & pitch sales (2025–), buyer/genre/rep pages, weekly email, CSV download | Only covers publicly reported deals; history starts in 2025 |
| Go Into The Story (Scott Myers) | Free blog + free ebook | Per-deal posts with loglines and reps; free ebook 'Spec Script Deals: 1991–2025' with 2,560 listings | Blog posts and ebook, not a searchable database; some posts on Patreon |
| Deadline, Variety, THR | Free to read (some paywalls) | The primary sources: where most deals are first reported | News articles, not a database; you have to track deals yourself |
| ScriptMatch | Paid (free matcher tool) | Tracks buyer activity to suggest which companies to pitch | Built for targeting buyers, not as a public archive of sales |
| IMDbPro | Paid | Contacts, credits and representation | Not a deal tracker |
What The Spec Sheet does
We log every feature spec script and pitch sale reported by the trades, starting in 2025: currently 60 deals, 23 of them from 2026. Each entry has the title, a one-line logline in our own words, writers, buyer, producers, genre and reps, plus a link to the original article. You can browse by buyer, genre and agency, manager or lawyer, writer, see what sold this week, or download the 2026 spreadsheet. It's free.
What we don't do: we don't publish rumored or unreported deals, we don't have Done Deal Pro's decades of history, and we don't list prices unless the trades reported them.
